My Journey In Tech

The beginning of my story is quite similar to all the students out here who started their journey in technology. I also come to know about this thing as every indian kid comes to know about from my siblings. I, Abhishek Bhagat I'm in my third year of Computer Science engineering Through this blog, I want to share my whole journey in tech.

Level 1- School

In school, I used to think all time about cars. I was never interested in computer science. After finishing school, I did not know what path to choose. My siblings suggested me to choose Computer Science(the stereotypical thing every Maharashtrian family does lol..), as they are all working in the Computer Science field. I was a bit scared at first but went for it finally.

Level 2- Diploma

I took the admission in diploma in Bharti Vidyapeeth college of engineering, kharghar and my real hands-on practical in computer science started I was actually scared of how I am going to get through this. Then i thought, let's give it a shot. what could go wrong?

My intuition turned out to be correct. I started to love coding when I understood how computers process information.

I started learning to code using C++ and java. It helped to create a foundation for the rest of the things I learned in the future related to tech.

Then, I slowly started poking around the internet to see what else i could do. I was fascinated by website animations. So I wanted to create website for myself. That's when I started learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript with the use of these technology I made a very basic website with some details.

It was around the 4th semester of my diploma, I came to know about Ethical Hacking i started getting passionate about Ethical Hacking too much. I started learning about this technology, I deep-dived into this field so much and started messing up with some websites (In which I never got success to find vulnerabilities) because I did not have any guidance. One day I came to know that one of my cousins is working in the Cyber Security domain. We started learning together he taught me a lot of new stuff. In last semester we decided to do a high level certifications and started preparing for them (certifications like: OSCP, OSEE, etc)

First when i entered into a Cyber Sec, i was only aware about defensive approach then i slowly started understanding the offensive approach (penetration testing) it sparked my interest high, Everything was going well...

Level 3- Engineering

I took admission in engineering college (A.C.PATIL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING) I was still doing Ethical Hacking stuff very passionately. But...

One day I was traveling in the train while thinking about my dreams that I'm carrying with me to traveling the world, I always think how will this possible to explore the world.

Here, comes open source, I come to know about this thing that explode my brain, I started searching for remote job stuff in the Ethical Hacking domain, but I found none.. it was little heartbreak for me :( , I started taking remote stuff seriously and started learning about it.

Finally!! i took a decision to transition from Ethical Hacking to DevOps, it really felt bad after learning this much you are going to leave that thing behind, but i know that decision is worth it. DevOps is also an interesting domain to work with, slowly developed an interest in this domain. Learned several tools and technologies of DevOps or required by DevOps in the few past months(Jenkins, Docker, YAML, GitHub, Kubernetes, Monakle, cloud, etc.). While learning this made lots of connections with the people who are doing or interested in remote work.

Level 4- Career/Job(loading...)

I am really excited to work as a DevOps engineer, working on learning more about DevOps technologies and sharing it with the community via blog, ps: I not that experienced in writing a blog, but I'm working on it as well.

Thanks to the decision which I took in my past has led me here, I am very grateful for that.

Few learnings on my part, which I would tell my past self before closing up.

  1. Do not give up.

  2. Be patient.

  3. Always be curious.

  4. Never stop learning.

Thank you for reading my story, I hope you like it.
